Tome Topple Wrap-Up
Tome Topple is a two-week readathon created by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes. The idea is to tackle the books that might be intimidating on their own because they're so big, so all books must be over 500 pages. This round ran from November 17 to November 30, and you can find my tbr and more here.
I read The Night Circus, In the Woods, and got 45% in for All the Light We Cannot See. Which is approximately two tomes and a half! I'm calling my first ever readathon a success. Miraculously, I managed to actually finish the two books that were my top priority.
I started The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern immediately. It was absolutely delightful and I'm so glad Tome Topple gave me the push I needed. A review will come later, but for now: it's magic, atmospheric, strange, slow, mysterious and ethereal. If you have the chance (and the patience), you should definitely read it. Even if it's confusing or you're not sure yet, it is so worth pushing through.
It took me nine days to finish my first tome, but as predicted, my time and priorities were elsewhere so I'm glad it still went so well. On day ten I picked up In the Woods by Tana French, which I thought was the last book from my autumn tbr. Sadly, I was mistaken, but at least there's only one book left for this month now. I finished it in three days, but it was only a two-star read. A review will still come, but the keywords will be "long," "okay," and/or "underwhelming."
I also picked up All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr in the last four days. This was not the next one on my list, but it was the only one I had an audiobook version of as well. I needed the change of format, and it allowed me to read during moments that would have been wasted had I only had a paper book. I wasn't able to finish it but will continue this month.
With these, I read a total of 1.094 pages and listened to more than seven hours of audio. Too bad I didn't get to the other two books on my list, but this was probably the best way the whole experience realistically could have gone. I'm definitely joining again for next round!
Did you join? Or have you joined other readathons before?
